Overview
El Sembrador/The Sower - Melissa Elizondo Moreno
Mexico, 2018, 85 min
A one-room schoolhouse in the Chiapas highlands models a humanistic model of education based on curiosity and love for the outdoors that is the basis for this documentary. Bartolomé, the teacher, knows that pedagogy is not based on textbooks and cannot fit behind the four walls of a classroom.
This true sower of knowledge demonstrates his philosophy and method to director Melissa Elizondo Moreno in a debut film recognized as Best Documentary from a Female Director and Audience Award for a Mexican Feature Documentary from the Morelia International Film Festival.
It also has been selected for the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, and the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival. Following the screening, the director will answer questions and attend a reception in her honor.
Melissa Elizondo Moreno was born in Mexico City in 1987.
