Raymond C. Miller

Professor Emeritus, International Relations and Social Science

Professor Miller served as a faculty member at SFSU for 43 years before retiring in 2006. During his long and successful career he was the national president for the Association for Integrative Studies and the Society for International Development as well as the founding editor of Issues in Integrative Studies. He is currently serving as Mayor of the City of Brisbane in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Professor Miller’s research interests include: International Political Economy, Third World Modernization, and Interdisciplinarity. The ISA sponsored Encyclopedia of International Studies contains an entry by Professor Miller titled: "Interdisciplinarity: Its Meaning and Consequences.” His most recent publication is the book chapter “The Political Economy of US-led Financial Crisis: A World View Analysis.” In Global and Regional Problems: Towards an Interdisciplinary Study, edited by Aalto Pami et al, Ashgate, 2012. Professor Miller is also the author of the popular textbook International Political Economy: Contrasting World Views. London ; New York: Routledge, 2008, with a second edition forthcoming in 2016.
